Cricket Cake

Karen’s dad is 90 today. A life long cricket enthusiast, this cake should fit the bill. Inside is a triple layered gluten-free lemon sponge filled with home made lemon curd. Hope that the sun shone for your outdoor celebrations and congratulations everyone.

Karen was kind enough to write to me afterwards

Dad had a fantastic time and the cake was out of this world! Everyone loved it, probably the best gluten free cake we’ve had!
My dad loved the design of the cake and got really choked up when he saw it 🙂
Thank you for doing such a wonderful job Liz. I can honestly say I couldn’t thank you enough for the taste, the design everything.
Best wishes,
Karen

Purple Rain

It is Stuart’s big birthday today. No Prizes for guessing his musical hero! This sparkly Purple Rain inspired celebration cake contains a vanilla sponge cake layered with jam and buttercream. Happy birthday Stuart.

Teenage Bed Cake

Rufus is 16 today and a snapshot of his bedroom seemed an apt way to celebrate. Here he is with his scooter and skateboard, the computer keyboard, the pizza, discarded clothes and all the empty bowls and dishes, oh, and Jumble who spends much of her time at the bottom of his bed. Somewhere underneath is a vanilla sponge cake. Happy birthday Rufus.

Giant Jungle Cupcake

Octavia asked me to make a cake to celebrate Tobias’s first birthday. She chose this giant cupcake with vanilla sponge inside and cheeky jungle characters in the buttercream topping. She was hoping for some wonderful photos as a memento of this very special day. She got them, and even better, the cake was not smashed to bits so she actually got to eat it!

Sewing Cake

Kirsty’s mum is 60 today. Kirsty tells me that her mum is a fantastic needlewoman so this is a three layer vanilla sponge iced with some of the tools of her trade. Everything (except the board) is edible. Have a lovely day everyone.
