Jan volunteered to make her grandson’s 4th birthday cake for a family party in lock-down. Sam requested pigs, so Jan asked if I could help with some little sugar pig faces to put on the top. That was fun! Jan sent me a picture of her finished cake.. certainly piggy!

Shades of pink rose cupcakes
Jessica wanted to treat her friend for a lock-down birthday. So she requested a dozen of these cup cakes, each filled with a spoonful of cherries and topped with pretty pink buttercream and a little sprinkle of glitter. All delivered safely.

Dinosaur cake
Barney is 12 this year and still loves chocolate and dinosaurs. Chocolate fudge filled chocolate cake with chocolate ganache icing should be sufficient to satisfy the former and I’m hoping this sugar spinosaurus is good enough for an expert. Happy birthday Barney.

VE Day fairy cakes
A batch of lemon-filled, red, white and blue fairy cakes for our impromptu socially distanced VE Day street party today. Ideal for a sunny afternoon with a cup of tea and a nice chat. We had a great time

Birthday cake for a Chelsea FC supporter
Barry is a dyed in the wool life long Chelsea supporter. It was his birthday this week and he and his wife are having to self isolate through lockdown. Christine ordered a special birthday meal to be delivered from a local restaurant and contacted me to ask for a cake to help them celebrate together. So here is a vanilla Madeira cake filled with jam and buttercream iced with a personalised Chelsea FC logo, delivered to the door.

Christine wrote to me afterwards: ‘Barry was so surprised, he had no idea. Really really nice, as good if not better from anywhere we’ve had previous years. SPOT ON. Thank you so much.
Minecraft cake
Freya had requested a Minecraft theme for her 9th birthday cake. Gooey Chocolate as usual but decorated with sugar models of her favourite Minecraft characters. As it turned out, poor Freya’s party was cancelled because we were in lockdown, but she had her cake just the same and celebrated at home with her family. Happy Birthday Freya!

Unicorn cup cakes
A quick batch of multicoloured unicorn cupcakes for Grace’s school fair. With golden horns, little pink ears and some gold glitter, they didn’t last long!

Cake for a coffee lover
Jill loves her daily coffee fix so what better for her big birthday celebration than a giant coffee cup. Coffee-filled coffee cake shaped and iced to form a completely edible construction (saucer and spoon included). A good centrepiece for a family celebration.

Tiered 40th birthday cake in pink
Ann and Ian’s daughter was having a big birthday party so she needed a lot of cake. She dis not want her name or age on the cake so we went for a girly cake in three shades of pink with roses and a big bow. In order to please everyone, the bottom ‘parcel’ was plain Madeira cake filed with jam, the middle was filled chocolate and the top a filled lemon cake. It had to travel 100 miles or so to the party, but I think it made it in one piece.
