Pink roses for 100th birthday

Sue and her sister have organised a party for Joan’s splendid milestone birthday. They chose a vanilla cake with jam and buttercream filling iced with deep pink sugar roses and purple violets. We piped the message nice and big so that Joan can see it and I think it has come out well. Hope the party is a success girls and very many congratulations Joan.

Cake for a dog lover

Hannah’s big birthday is today. Her mum asked for a big chocolatey chocolate cake which reflected the loves in Hannah’s life. Her husband, her two little girls and of course Murphy the dog. My detail was to include all the family names, Murphy and his paraphernalia, Hannah’s walking boots, two pairs of little pink shoes and a big pair of men’s shoes and then maybe wine, sunshine, flowers etc etc…. Well, there is a limit to be what can be fixed onto a sticky chocolate cake on a hot day but I hope this is what you wanted Sue. Happy birthday Hannah

Champagne party girl

Annie has a birthday this week. Maggie wanted to give her a birthday cake for a little get together of their bridge playing, party loving friends. Maggie suggested an iced vanilla sponge with this design and here we are. Cheers girls

Motown Birthday

It is Sue’s 70th birthday and her friends wanted a cake to celebrate her life as a dancer and love of Motown music. So I decorated this chocolate cake as a vintage record player complete with sugar LP and dancer silhouette. Everything edible except for the board, ribbon and one wire running through the stylus arm. One of the party girls is gluten intolerant so I made the turn table under the record from a big round gluten free chocolate brownie.

Afterwards, Judy wrote me a lovely email

Teenage bedroom cake

Sam is 18 today. While he was out on the golf course with his dad this morning, I delivered this chocolate fudge filled chocolate cake. I decorated it to look like his own bed and put him inside wearing his beloved cap and his golf club shirt. The teenage essentials of pizza, phone, headphones and games console as well as golf balls, discarded clothes and his yachting magazine were liberally sprinkled around him. Happy birthday Sam.

Birthday cake with orange roses

Valerie lives in a care home and so at the moment her brother is unable to visit her even on her landmark birthday. He contacted me and requested this lemon cake, filled with home made lemon curd decorated with orange coloured roses. I delivered it this morning. There was plenty to share with staff and other residents. Hope you all had a lovely day.

Little piggy decorations

Jan volunteered to make her grandson’s 4th birthday cake for a family party in lock-down. Sam requested pigs, so Jan asked if I could help with some little sugar pig faces to put on the top. That was fun! Jan sent me a picture of her finished cake.. certainly piggy!

Dinosaur cake

Barney is 12 this year and still loves chocolate and dinosaurs. Chocolate fudge filled chocolate cake with chocolate ganache icing should be sufficient to satisfy the former and I’m hoping this sugar spinosaurus is good enough for an expert. Happy birthday Barney.

Minecraft cake

Freya had requested a Minecraft theme for her 9th birthday cake. Gooey Chocolate as usual  but decorated with sugar models of her favourite Minecraft characters. As it turned out, poor Freya’s party was cancelled because we were in lockdown, but she had her cake just the same and celebrated at home with her family. Happy Birthday Freya!
