This is a jolly Harry Potter cake (complete with sugar wand) for Stuart’s grand daughter Wren. Underneath is squidgy chocolate fudge layer cake. I don’t think there was much left after the family party. Happy birthday Wren.

Yvonne contacted me to ask for a special cake to celebrate Julie’s 70th birthday. They have recently moved down to the coast and have straight away developed a love for beach huts. Julie has had a life in Girl Guiding, plays a mean game of golf and is especially fond of roses. Make the whole lot out of sugar, pile them on top of a rich fruit cake and you have a recipe for a family celebration,. Hope you all had fun.

Mel is a biking enthusiast and it is her birthday. Amanda has just become Ladies’ Club Champion the the golf club and so a double celebration was in order. Mel’s side of the cake is chocolate sponge with chocolate fudge filling and Amanda’s, a lemon sponge filled with fresh lemon curd and buttercream. On the top, a fancy bike and Amanda’s trophy, around the sides the landscape of road cycling and the golf course. I hope you had a great night girls

Lisa was back for another cake this week. This time her husband was turning forty and she asked for a rugby themed cake to feed a crowd. This is a jam and buttercream filled Madeira cake, iced with a chocolate-muddy rugby player in South Africa colours and a number 40 on his back of course. Hope the party (and the cake) was a success Lisa.
