Back in the day, Tara’s godmother was a well known florist in Covent Garden. For her 80th birthday celebrations, Tara asked me to make Isabel a fruit cake (with homemade almond paste) depicting the shop. Tara found an old black and white photo of the property which I did my best to copy. Tara also needed me to feature a pig in the design … a long standing family joke. So here it is. I hope your godmother recognises it Tara and that you all have a lovely day.
Little Robyn is 3 and her Gran asked me to make this victoria sponge layer cake covered in sea creatures for their family celebration.
Libby and her twin brother Richard, turned 80 this summer so I made this open book cake with a page for each of them featuring their wide range of interests over the years. Libby loves her cat, had a career in teaching and used to dance the night away. Richard was a plumber, a cyclist and a sailor. Inside is a lemon cake filled with fresh lemon curd.
Margaret and Alan both have their birthdays just two weeks apart. This year they had one big party to celebrate a bit of a milestone at Rays in Milford. They asked me to make this very personalised two tier cake to share with their friends after the meal. The bottom tier is for Margaret – a fresh lemon curd and buttercream layer cake decorated with flowers and butterflies. The top tier is Alan’s – a carrot cake filled with cream cheese frosting and decorated to reflect his love of playing golf. I know you had a lovely day. Happy birthday to you both.
Theo had his 5th birthday party recently. One of his prize possessions if his Lightning McQueen cycle helmet, so his mum sent me a picture and asked me to make an edible version. Underneath the icing is a jam and vanilla layered sponge. Happy birthday Theo

Barbara loves her golf and her friends organised a celebratory lunch at the golf club for her birthday. This is a lemon layered sponge, iced in fondant and topped with an edible sugar golf buggy. Happy birthday Barbara.
Maureen turned 90 this week and she asked me to make a rich fruit cake to share with her family and friends. When I went to visit her she showed me some wonderful pictures of the glamorous ballroom dancing days. We chose a striking colour scheme of red and black to reflect her love of dance and her favourite roses. Very many congratulations Maureen, Happy Birthday.
When Mandy got home from work this afternoon, all her friends and neighbours were waiting with a surprise birthday party for her. She rarely sits still, but when she does, she gets out her needlepoint. What better then, than this embroidery inspired cake. Underneath the sugar thread-work is a jam and buttercream filled sponge. The Milford Art Group are celebrating their 50th anniversary today at South Lawn Hotel. They asked my to make a big cake to use at their lunch party and provided me with a design. Underneath the sugar models is a vanilla cake layered with jam and buttercream.
