Anne’s Sailing cake

Anne was so excited to have won her first sailing trophy that she asked me to make her a celebratory cake. She invited her fellow sailors round for a soiree in her garden and finished off with this lemon sponge cake decorated with her dinghy. Well done Anne.

Golden Wedding Sponge cake

I made a birthday cake for Amy’s mum a couple of years ago and she contacted me again to ask for a golden wedding cake for their important family celebration. This is a layered vanilla sponge with jam and buttercream filling, topped with gold and white blossoms and gold script. She picked the cake up on the way to the family celebration. Hope you all had fun and that the cake went down well.

Easter Chick

Sally needed a cake to celebrate Easter with her family. This is a lemon sponge, filled with fresh lemon curd, with suitably seasonal sugar-paste decorations.

Happy Easter Everybody

Woodland inspired Baptism cake

Grace’s grandparents commissioned her baptism cake from me. Her parents provided a picture of exactly what they wanted and sourced the accessories for me. Underneath the Italian meringue buttercream icing is a 7 layer vanilla sponge filled with jam and buttercream. This photo was taken by the family, proving thank goodness, that it survived its 100 mile journey. Congratulations to everyone, especially little Grace.

Bee keepers cake

One of Janine’s work colleagues is leaving to take up a new post. she is a keen bee keeper and i was asked to make a bee-inspired cake. Inside is a big layered lemon sponge with fresh lemon curd filling. On the top are sugar flowers and lots of jolly sugar bees, some of them air-borne, as well as a sprinkle of sparkle. Good luck in your new job Alison.

Happy Memories Cake

This is a cake that I made to commemorate the long and happy life of a very special lady who passed away earlier this year. Her family gathered from far and wide to remember her together. She had a wealth of interests but especially golf, bridge, her garden, embroidery and jigsaws. She was well known for her intolerance of squirrels, so I sneaked one on as the picture on the puzzle. Every last bit edible of course.

Formula 1 retirement

Linda’s husband had his retirement party this weekend. He is a keen F1 follower as well as a photographer. We captured these in sugar model form and added some other aspects of his life in sugar ‘photos’ on this chocolate fudge cake. Plenty for everyone. Hope it went well
