Bridge, Scrabble and Roses

Wendy’s mum has come to stay for the week of her birthday and Wendy needed a little cake for the celebration. There were just the two of them but we made this little 6″ layer cake special for a lovely lady who enjoys bridge and Scrabble as well as the beautiful roses in her garden.

Sisters’ Hands

Vicky has a big birthday this weekend. She has ordered a couple of cakes from me for her family in the past, but today it is her turn. Her sister asked me to make a very special layered sponge cake featuring their matching tattoos. A very personal design for a family celebration. Happy birthday Vicky.

Autumn Birthday

This time last year, Trish asked me to make a birthday cake for her daughter. Sadly, the order had to be cancelled thanks to the Covid restrictions, so we had another go this year. This is a vanilla sponge layered with jam and buttercream, sprinkled with pretty sugar autumn leaves and tied with a sugar bow.

Ankylosaurus

Sam is 4 today and has a party this afternoon. His dad has just picked up this Ankylosaurus cake. There is a squishy chocolate sponge underneath his spiky sugar armour and, as requested, he is sitting in a bed of molten lava. I hope this fits the bill Sam, have a lovely day.

Pink Champagne

Wendy turned 70 this weekend and Mick and Danni asked me to make a surprise cake for her family party. Fruit cake is her favourite and it needed to be gluten free. Apparently Wendy has always wanted a pink birthday cake so here we are. A fitting celebration for a much loved wife, Mum and Adda. Cheers!

Pink and Gold birthday

Vanessa contacted me through Facebook messenger to ask if I could make a cake for her daughter Ella’s 21st birthday. We decided on this 5-layered, jam and buttercream filled sponge. I smothered it in pink and white buttercream with a golden ganache drip icing and piled it high with pink tinged meringues and golden Maltesers. It was finished off with a bespoke topper and a sugar bow. I delivered it to her Gran who lives in Milford and she took it to the family party. Happy birthday Ella!

Roses

Rosemary’s aunt had her 99th birthday a couple of weeks ago. Her pride and joy is her garden full of roses so we put a big bunch of sugar roses on top of this iced lemon sponge. Rosemary kindly phoned to say how much everyone enjoyed it

30th Wedding Anniversary

Elaine wanted a simple cake in very particular colours to celebrate her daughter and son-in-law’s 30th wedding anniversary. Inside was a vanilla and peach coloured marble cake, split with buttercream, to remind them of the peach coloured dresses their bridesmaids wore. The red writing and decorations allude to their first dance – Lady in Red. Congratulations.

Rugby

Lisa was back for another cake this week. This time her husband was turning forty and she asked for a rugby themed cake to feed a crowd. This is a jam and buttercream filled Madeira cake, iced with a chocolate-muddy rugby player in South Africa colours and a number 40 on his back of course. Hope the party (and the cake) was a success Lisa.
