Linda has asked me to make several cakes for her family over the years. Now it is her turn. Her husband contacted me and requested a lemon layer cake to celebrate Linda’s 70th birthday. She is a bit of a sun worshipper and loves her garden. Geoff was very specific about there being sugar dahlias and daisies on the cake as well as her sun-cream and sunglasses, so here we are. I delivered it to Ray’s Italian Kitchen ready for her party this weekend, Hope you all had a good time.
Beth’s mum is a keen gardener and fills her garden with beautiful flowers. Here is her birthday cake – a jam and buttercream filled vanilla sponge decorated as a pretty garden with pink roses climbing up the sides. All edible and a treat for the family party
Another diamond wedding anniversary with sugar flowers to match the bridal bouquet of 60 years ago. This time the flowers are lovely purple anemones which I loved making. Inside is a fresh lemon and buttercream layer cake. The cake was a surprise to Margaret and Mike from their family. I think we managed to keep the secret. Congratulations
Back in the day, Tara’s godmother was a well known florist in Covent Garden. For her 80th birthday celebrations, Tara asked me to make Isabel a fruit cake (with homemade almond paste) depicting the shop. Tara found an old black and white photo of the property which I did my best to copy. Tara also needed me to feature a pig in the design … a long standing family joke. So here it is. Margaret and Alan both have their birthdays just two weeks apart. This year they had one big party to celebrate a bit of a milestone at Rays in Milford. They asked me to make this very personalised two tier cake to share with their friends after the meal. The bottom tier is for Margaret – a fresh lemon curd and buttercream layer cake decorated with flowers and butterflies. The top tier is Alan’s – a carrot cake filled with cream cheese frosting and decorated to reflect his love of playing golf. I know you had a lovely day. Happy birthday to you both.
