Penny is a keen golfer and Ian asked me to make a cake with a model of her putting on a green on the top. This is a lemon cake iced in fondant to look a bit like the golf course. Penny is wearing her club colours but I fear it looks as though she is going to miss that putt unless there is a bit of a swing on the green! Happy birthday Penny

Janine organised a surprise party for her husbands 80th birthday. Peters interests are horse-racing, holidays and wine and they like both chocolate and lemon cake. So the eight is a lemon cake filled with lemon curd and decorated with sugar wine bottles and holiday paraphernalia. The zero is chocolate cake iced to look a bit like a race track with sugar railings. Janine popped some little model race horses on it and we had all bases covered. Not so easy hiding a giant cake until it was needed but hey ho..
Rachel and Patrick are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary with a family lunch at a local eatery. Their daughter ordered this two tiered cake – the bottom tier is lemon sponge with home made lemon curd and the top is a chocolaty chocolate sponge. Circlets of sugar roses and a bespoke topper to finish it off.

A double celebration lunch today. Cheryl and Lin both had birthdays this week but way more exciting than that, they are soon going to have two new adorable kittens living with them. Liz and Martin celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a family party at Chewton Glen. They are both keen sports players – Liz of tennis and Martin of golf and they particularly wanted a cake that would reflect those interests. Inside is a lemon sponge layered with home made lemon curd. On top are a sugar golf club and tennis racquet and a pretty golden message. Congratulations to you both.
Debbie contacted me months ago to order a special cake for her intrepid mother in law. Margaret will be celebrating her 80th birthday this weekend and then on her actual birthday will set off in her campervan with her Labrador Molly by her side. They are off up to the Scottish Highlands to complete the North Coast 500. What a way to celebrate!

Teresas mum is 90. She wanted a special cake decorated as a vegetable garden. Just one snag, her mum doesn’t like icing. So we left one corner of this lemon cake uniced, put some biscuit crumb gravel in the top and made a sugar garden shed to cover it up. Hey presto. The rest has chocolate soil and little sugar vegetables. Hope we’ve kept everyone happy!
