North Coast 500 adventure

Debbie contacted me months ago to order a special cake for her intrepid mother in law. Margaret will be celebrating her 80th birthday this weekend and then on her actual birthday will set off in her campervan with her Labrador Molly by her side. They are off up to the Scottish Highlands to complete the North Coast 500. What a way to celebrate!

So here is a lemon layer cake depicting the scenery of Scotland around the sides

Good luck to you both, have a wonderful trip.

Sun, sea and sand

Hazel and her family gathered in Milford to celebrate her mums birthday. She showed me some pictures of beach themed cakes and this was the result. Underneath the icing is a three layered carrot cake with traditional cream cheese frosting between. Hope you all had fun

Cats, sharks and seaweed…

A little while ago I was asked to make a slightly off the wall cake for an informal wedding. The Groom has a deep interest in sharks, with his particular favourite being Hammerheads. The Bride is fascinated by edible seaweed….. and they have a cat. So I was charged with getting them all onto this layered Victoria sponge cake. Roses might have been more conventional. I understand it went down very well. Congratulations to you all.

Cruise Liner Wedding Cake

Claire and her new husband John met on a cruise on the Queen Mary 2. They got married today and asked for this layered lemon cake to be iced to reflect their love of the sea, topped with a sugar cruise ship. They are booked on another trip on the QM2 for their honeymoon. Congratulations to you both, I hope you had a wonderful day.

Photographer’s cake

Jack contacted me months ago to ask me to make a cake for his birthday. It needed to feed 30 – 40 people so he chose this 12″ square vanilla sponge filled with jam and buttercream. Jack is a keen photographer, specialising in seascapes and sunsets so what better than a model of his camera and a few hand painted sugar photos to top his cake. There is blue and white bunting all around the sides as well. I hope you had a wonderful day Jack.
