Chocolate cake for a joint birthday celebration
Dick and Sue planned a celebration lunch for their family and friends to mark their big birthdays this month. They didn’t want a fussy cake and chose this chocolate sponge filled with vanilla cream, coated in Belgian chocolate fondant. We kept the decoration simple but added a couple of sugar shells as a nod to their love of walking along the cliffs by the seashore.
21st birthday cake for a bookworm
Elaine wanted a cake that would reflect Her granddaughter’s passions and nothing pink Hannah is a committed Christian, and when she does not have her nose in a book she is out . She is also a top class physics student. So we have made a cake with piles of books, a map and walking boots, a bible and some impenetrable physics formulae piped around the sides. Hope you like it Hannah, happy birthday.

18th birthday cake for a sophisticated dinner party
Rachel and Alex are best of friends and celebrated their 18th birthday with a dinner party for their friends. They chose this two tier vanilla cake filled with jam and butter cream, shaped as an ice bucket complete with sugar champagne bottle. Hope your party went well . Happy birthday.
Birthday cake for a 6 year old gymnast
Freya sent me special instructions for her 6th birthday cake. It needed to be chocolate, with pink icing and a gymnast on the top. She drew me a lovely picture to help. My version is not quite the same, the anti-gravity posture of the gymnast was a bit too much of a challenge, but I really hope that this will do. Happy birthday Freya.
Birthday cake for a model railway enthusiast
John is a model railway enthusiast extraordinaire! His passion has led to the entire upper floor of his house being converted into a railway, the new layout being revealed as part of his 70th birthday celebrations this weekend.
John and Jenny have 6 grandchildren all of whom wanted a slice of the action, so we made this with each of the chocolate cake goods-trucks bearing the name of one of the children.
Happy birthday John, wishing you many joyful hours in the signal box.
80th Birthday cake for an ardent Chelsea supporter
Dave has been a dedicated Chelsea supporter all his life. He and his family were given a tour of Stamford Bridge as his 80th birthday present and then he had a party for 50 of his friends a few days later. Three tiers of madeira cake in lemon, chocolate and vanilla iced, of course, in blue and white. Many happy returns Dave.

30 years of Lymington Town Tours
Vivien contacted me via Streetlife and asked if I could make a cake to celebrate 30 years of the splendid Lymington Town Tours. (If you haven’t been on one, they are a really great way to uncover local history). We made a large plain Madeira cake with a jam filling and decorated it with Lymington landmarks in the organisation’s colours of cream and green. 30 candles finished it off. I understand the party went well and those not there got a slice of cake parcelled up in front boxes from Waitrose!

90th birthday party for the whole family
Wedding anniversary cake spanning 50 years

Irene had kept the floral topper from her original wedding cake. It was carefully packed in a box and had survived unscathed for 50 years. Irene planned a 50th anniversary party but wanted a second cake to share with her friends at church the following day so we settled on this two tier fruit cake. I made sugar flowers which I hope reflect those in the vintage topper and this was the result. Very many congratulations Irene.
