Bee keepers cake

One of Janine’s work colleagues is leaving to take up a new post. she is a keen bee keeper and i was asked to make a bee-inspired cake. Inside is a big layered lemon sponge with fresh lemon curd filling. On the top are sugar flowers and lots of jolly sugar bees, some of them air-borne, as well as a sprinkle of sparkle. Good luck in your new job Alison.

Campervan Anniversary

Liz and Richard had an extended golden wedding celebration taking their family and friends away for a weekend in Dorset. They wanted a big cake to keep everyone going for the whole holiday and asked me to make it in the shape of their campervan. (I don’t think they stuffed everyone in it this time). Anyway, this is a huge chocolate cake iced as a rough representation of their vehicle. Vaguely recognisable I think and delicious I hope. Have fun everyone

Cricket cake

Golden Wedding

To celebrate 50 years of marriage, Liz and Richard held a lovely party at South Lawns Hotel. They chose a lemon layer cake, iced in a design they saw on this website with a big sugar bow and a sugar bouquet of freesias and gypsophila which are the flowers Liz carried on her wedding day.

Thai Orchids

I love making sugar flowers, so when Wendy asked me for a Thai-themed cake for her Thai-themed 60th birthday party, I was delighted to revise my orchid making skills. This was a sponge, filled with fresh lemon curd and topped with a golden 60 as well as a spray of vibrant fuchsia-coloured sugar orchids

Danish birthday cake

Saly had seen a picture on my Facebook page of a cake similar to this one that I had made a few weeks earlier. Her granny is also a scrabble and Rummikub player, but as she is Danish, we needed a national flag as well. Here is Granny’s fresh lemon curd filled 90th birthday cake.
