Joyce and Colin have been married sixty years and are having a party for family and friends to celebrate. I decorated this rich fruit cake in ice blue and white with a handful of sugar diamonds. Congratulations to you both.

Wild rose and butterfly wedding cake
Ben and Charlotte had a lovely pre-wedding party in the surroundings of a stunning Tudor mansion. This pretty summer cake had four tiers of carrot cake, chocolate fudge cake, madeira cake and fruit cake decorated with sugar roses and little blue butterflies. Very many congratulations to a delightful young couple.
Burgundy wedding cake
Wedding cake from a proud Grandma

Freda’s grand daughter was getting married. Freda had baked the cake but wanted some help with the icing and sugar flowers.
Az’s wedding cake
You may remember I met Az on a damp spring day to discuss the cake for her forthcoming wedding in Beaulieu.
Well, it worked out well and the sun shone on a beautiful wedding in between two days of torrential rain. Congratulations Az and Paul, all the very best for the future.
Az’s parents wrote me a lovely note afterwards
Simple wedding cake for a garden party
New Wedding Cake Commission
This week, I met with the lovely Az in the tea rooms close to her wedding venue in Beaulieu to discuss the details of her wedding cake over a cuppa.

The wedding is in July and the groom is a gardener so they have a strong theme of living plants and flowers for their day. Az is going to carry an informal bouquet of pastel lilac, cream and white flowers and green foliage which she would like reflected in her cake.
She has chosen a stacked three tiered cake in chocolate, lemon and traditional fruit cake on the top (specially for her mum), which will be iced in ivory and scattered with blossoms to match the flowers in her bouquet.
Az particularly wanted two birds on the top and after an on the spot internet search we found our inspiration. I will make a simple sugar tree with two little birds in the branches and the bride and groom’s initials scratched on the trunk.

Really looking forward to getting started. I’ll post pictures of the final product in July…
Cake for summer garden wedding

This cake was designed to reflect the garden party theme of this wedding, which was held in a National Trust garden in Scotland in August 2014.
The bride and bridesmaid carried bouquets of assorted garden flowers and the marquee was festooned with handmade bunting in shades of purple and green.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa

This groom proposed to his bride at the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and they wanted a cake to remind them of this on their big day.
With a bit of clever engineering, and creative icing, this four-tiered fruitcake wowed the guests with its gravity-defying tilt.
